TAN alleged embezzlement: Group tells EFCC to probe those who enriched themselves, building Radio Stations, owning properties illegally
The last may not have been heard of the 2015 Presidential Campaign of Goodluck Jonathan as one of his campaign train known as the Transformation Ambassadors of Nigeria (TAN) has come under scrutiny and proper investigation.
A group known as “South East Entertainers Union (SEEU)” rising from her emergency general meeting held in Owerri yesterday called on the Economic and Financial Commission (EFCC) to summon the Coordinators of TAN especially those who were in charge of entertainment especially in the Southeast, to account for the funds of the organization. Mr. Igwebuike Nnorom the National President of South East Entertainers Union (SEEU) lamented the way and manner some Coordinators of the organization embezzled millions of Naira and hard currencies made available for Nigeria Entertainers especially Southeast. According to the President, some opportunists hijacked the funds during the 2014/2015 Campaign for Goodluck Jonathan’s second term bid. These opportunists according to Nnorom stashed the funds meant for Artistes, Comedians, Actors, DJs, etc. and gave these entertainers peanuts as take home after making use of their talents in the 36 states of the Federation during Goodluck Jonathan’s Campaign in 2015.
“Today, these rogues have built Radio Stations across the Nation, owned properties here and there and no one is asking questions, we are here today to ask questions, this is the time for EFCC, ICPC to launch an all-out investigation into some coordinators’ dirty dealings in TAN through which they enriched themselves illegally”. We know some of these people they were nothing before TAN came and immediately after the 2015 elections and Jonathan lost, there was no one to ask them how they spent the fund released for that purpose. It is on this premise therefore, we are calling on EFCC and ICPC to begin an investigation immediately.
The association is made up of Musicians, Comedians, Actors, Disc Jockeys (DJs), etc. from the five states of the South East vowed to expose those swimming in the ocean of TAN money whose sources of wealth remains suspicious. Transformation Ambassadors of Nigeria (TAN) was a group used in mobilizing Nigerians especially the Youths during the 2015 Presidential Election to champion the cause of peace and one Nigerian agenda. The group went around the 36 States of Nigeria campaigning for Goodluck Jonathan who later lost to the incumbent President, Mohammadu Buhari of the APC.
